TRIBUTE TO THE LATE PRINCESS OF WALES
During her official visit to Canada in the fall of 1991 the late Diana, Princess of Wales visited young patients at a child rehabilitation hospital in Toronto, Canada. At this time Samantha Michael was an inpatient rehabilitating from a motor vehicle accident caused by a drunk driver (see Speaking From Strength in About this Non-Profit). The hospital was a lonely place for many patients and this visit from the late Princess was more meaningful to children than anyone looking in from the outside of the hospital could ever understand.
Samantha remembers how the late Princess of Wales elegantly walked around the room to visit young patients and made them all feel special. She compassionately spoke to Samantha during this time and signed a personal recovery book for her. After signing, Diana handed the book back to Samantha with a beautiful smile on her face as she turned her full attention to the next patient.
In 1997 Diana, Princess of Wales was killed by an impaired driver in a motor vehicle accident that saddened many people in the world, Samantha included.
Accidents of the nature that killed Diana, Princess of Wales and seriously injured Samantha happen frequently. After one such accident in 2008 (see News Report in Links) Samantha and her Aunt Gisele Microys, MD came up with the idea to do some work to raise money to help prevent these types of tragedies.
Together Samantha and Gisele started An Aid to Help Foundation with the mission to provide encouragement and resources to educators, students, parents and families on ways to learn or teach others to make responsible choices in life.
For Samantha, this Canadian Federal Non-Profit Corporation's mission will always be in her own way a tribute to the late Diana, Princess of Wales, whose life was unfortunately taken due to the irresponsible choices of another person.

NOTE: The late Diana, Princess of Wales has been mentioned on this website from an entirely private memory of her visit to the young patients at Hugh MacMillan Children's Rehabilitation Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1991 while Samantha Michael, Chairman of the Board of An Aid to Help Foundation was an inpatient. The intent has been to honor the late Diana and is completely uncommercial.
